The Leadership Group incorporates the Women in Science and Health committee (WISH), an established group that provides leadership training, mentoring and networking opportunities for women. This group provided the impetus for the COEWH development work, and women from WISH have taken leadership roles in the COEWH as Deputy Director and Leadership Director.

The Center will work to recruit and retain diverse students and faculty. The goal is to foster gender equity and increase representation of women in leadership of women in leadership roles within academic medicine. Existing programs will be expanded to attract women and minorities into the health professions,  offer mentoring programs, and sponsor women for leadership roles.
