Join the WVU National Center of Excellence ins Women's Health and your local community in this years Women on Wellness retreat at Heston Farm, Fairmont WV.
The Women on Wellness (WOW) interactive, one-day behavioral change retreat is designed to help women make lasting, positive lifestyle changes. With a focus on prevention, the retreat serves to link each participant to resources in her community that can support her personal wellness journey. WOW stresses that no two women start at the same place and so teaches each retreat participant how to develop and prioritize a set of goals and strategies. Each woman will leave with her own personal lifestyle plan.
Each participant is provided:
Educational sessions led by experts and designed to provide women with the skills needed to become informed consumers and advocates for themselves and their families.
A variety of health screenings to help women find out about their current health status.
Opportunities to try different movement activities and exercises in a safe, fun, and non-judgmental atmosphere.
Connection to valuable resources in their community.
A guidebook written specifically for WOW retreats.
A journal for women to use to support their ongoing efforts after the retreat.
WOW genuinely cares about the well-being of women, so it is our hope that in addition to leaving the retreat with a personalized plan, a wealth of information, and the resources to reach her goals, each participant also leaves with a renewed commitment and the motivation to continue the process she has started as well as understanding her Health Care provider is her partner in her lifestyle journey.
We also hope that the knowledge and excitement gained during the retreat will be brought back into the community, providing the foundation for a grassroots effort that can have a powerful impact not only on retreat participants but those they care about and others in the community.
